New Braunfels
Rustic furniture for New Braunfels homes
Our showroom on Loop 1604 in San Antonio is about 40 minutes from New Braunfels without traffic. Here is what is worth the trip, a nod to the city's German Texan building and how to plan the drive.
Worth the trip
Make the trip for the pieces that define a room
Whether you are furnishing a new house or refreshing an older one, much of it can come from anywhere.
The pieces worth a drive are the ones a room is remembered by: the dining table, the bar or wine cabinet, the buffet, the light over the table. Our floor leans toward tooled leather, copper, onyx and carved wood, and many pieces are one of a kind.
- Choose the anchor piece first and let the rest of the room follow its wood tone.
- Measure the wall or the space under the light before you look.
- One statement piece per room keeps a house from looking like a showroom.

German Texan building
A nod to fachwerk and stone
New Braunfels was founded in 1845 by German settlers, and its oldest buildings use fachwerk: hewn timber frames joined with mortise and tenon, pegged with wood and filled with brick or stone. The New Braunfels Conservation Society's Historic Old Town on Church Hill Drive lets you compare fachwerk styles in some of the city's oldest structures, and all of Gruene is on the National Register of Historic Places.
In a newer house, one or two pieces with old timber or iron carry that history better than a themed room: a beam-framed mirror in the entry, a heavy wood table, iron where you would otherwise choose brass.
