Wimberley and Woodcreek
Live-edge and rustic furniture for Wimberley and Woodcreek homes
Wimberley takes its name from a mill. The settlement on Cypress Creek was known in turn as Winters' Mill, Cude's Mill and Wimberley's Mill, and the mill sawed lumber and shingles, ground grain and ginned cotton until 1925. Furniture that shows its wood fits that history. Our San Antonio showroom is about an hour and 5 minutes from Wimberley without traffic.
A mill town on Cypress Creek
Let the wood show
William Carvin Winters built a gristmill on Cypress Creek in 1856. John M. and Nancy Winters Cude bought it in 1864, and Pleasant Wimberley bought it from them in 1874. When a post office was sought in 1880, the name granted was simply Wimberley. The mill was demolished in 1934. The Handbook of Texas describes bald cypress and pecan trees lining the banks of the Blanco River and Cypress Creek.
In a house near that water, choose furniture where the grain, the natural edge and the shape of the tree stay visible: a slab table, a free-form mirror, a stump beside a chair. Let one slab or root piece lead each room and keep the rest quiet, so the wood carries it.
- Living room: a thick slab coffee table as the anchor.
- Beside the sofa: a stump or slab end table instead of a matched set.
- Entry: a free-form wood mirror over a live-edge console.
- One showpiece per room; give the pieces around it simple lines.
Town by town
Wimberley and its neighbor
Wimberley
The Handbook places Wimberley 14 miles northwest of San Marcos and 40 miles southwest of Austin in western Hays County, with the Blanco River and Cypress Creek as its streams. The mill also served as a flour mill and a molasses mill before it closed. About 51 miles from the showroom, an hour and 5 minutes without traffic.
Woodcreek
About a mile north of Wimberley on Ranch Road 12. Development began in the 1970s, and the city, incorporated in 1984, takes in the original 18-hole Woodcreek golf course and the homes of what was first called the Woodcreek Resort Subdivision. With Wimberley, it became the Wimberley Valley International Dark Sky Community in 2018. About 55 miles, an hour and 15 minutes without traffic.

Shopping our showroom from here
Wimberley is about 51 miles from the showroom, roughly an hour and 5 minutes without traffic, and Woodcreek about 55 miles, an hour and 15 minutes. A slab's edge and grain are easier to judge in person, so a visit pays off for a table; for a smaller piece, a video call may be enough.
