McAllen, Edinburg, Mission and Pharr

Spanish Revival furniture for McAllen, Edinburg, Mission and Pharr

McAllen's Quinta Mazatlan, a Spanish Revival adobe house built in 1935, now belongs to the city. Carved wood, copper and onyx look at home in rooms of that style. The Rustic Gallery has sold to clients in the Rio Grande Valley. This guide shows how to choose a room's worth of pieces and ask about them in one inquiry.

Upper Valley houses

Spanish Revival rooms, one at a time

The Handbook of Texas describes Mission's late 20th-century homes as mostly single story, many of them Spanish style and enclosed by fences. South of town, the La Lomita chapel was built in 1899 of stones dug from its hill and has been in the National Register since 1975. In McAllen, the city describes Quinta Mazatlan as a 10,000-square-foot Spanish Revival adobe house.

Spanish Revival rooms take carved wood, copper and onyx well, and the dining room is where several pieces have to agree at once: the table, the chairs, a buffet and the light. Choose them together and ask about them together, so one answer covers the whole room.

  • Start with the table and let its top set the color for the rest.
  • Seat the ends with armchairs and the sides with matching side chairs or a bench.
  • Choose the chandelier last, sized to the table rather than the room.
