Amarillo and the Panhandle
Rustic furniture for Amarillo and Panhandle homes
Amarillo's Wolflin Historic District is mostly brick period-revival houses of the 1920s and 1930s, Tudor Revival above all, with Spanish Colonial Revival among the rest. Our San Antonio showroom carries the dark wood, tooled leather and wrought iron that suit both, and we have sold to clients in the Panhandle. Here is how to choose from about eight and a half hours away.
Wolflin
Tudor brick and a few tile roofs
The Wolflin Historic District, listed in the National Register in 1992, covers 210 acres platted as Wolflin Place and Wolflin Estates in the 1920s. Its developers noted that English and Dutch styles were preferred in better additions, and their rules, including brick or stucco walls, made Tudor Revival the main style of Wolflin Place. The Kansas City firm Hare & Hare designed the streets of Wolflin Estates, and rows of Siberian elms line brick streets across the district.
Spanish Colonial Revival houses stand among them, such as the 1928 Stevenson House on South Hughes, with an arcaded entry porch and tile roof, and the 1930 Furr House, with arched openings and wrought iron balconets.
- Tudor Revival: dark wood, a paneled settle in the hall and a carved bed with tooled leather panels.
- Spanish Colonial Revival: a wrought iron chandelier, with leather and carved wood below it.
- A study in either house: a desk with tooled leather panels.
